The MPC team is familiar with the specific parts of the planning permission requirements that are relevant to typical off-mains-drains project work, particularly those associated with packaged sewage treatment system construction, associated ground-works and drainage.
Whether it is for a new-build project or udpating the sewage treatment on an existing property, the team will help you work through your local buildings control proceedures and contacts to make sure that you have everything in place for your project to fit to the relevant criteria laid out by the planning authorities as well as manage any questions that may arise.
Typically, planning permission is not required to install a sewage treatment plant and an application to Building Control and permission from Environment Agency will suffice. However there are variations across and within the different local authorities which mean the development rights will not allow for any works that go beyond repair and maintenance without permission.
Whether you need planning permission or Building Control approval we will work with you to confirm ownership and responsibility before modifying or carrying out maintenance or work. Drains, sewers and manholes may be shared with neighbours or owned by the relevant sewerage undertaker.
Our MPC Install team are used to working with planners across the country and can assist you with checking with the local planning authority to confirm that those rights have not been removed. Our CCTV equipment can be used to help identify any shared system if you are unsure.
